Frequently asked questions
Who do I work with?
I work with mid-sized organisations — typically between £10m and £150m turnover — that are implementing, replacing or recovering an ERP system. Many of my clients are acquisitive, PE-backed groups managing M&A complexity across multiple entities. Others are growing businesses that have outgrown their current system and need experienced, independent leadership to make the transition a success.
Do you specialise in any particular ERP system?
Yes. My primary specialism is Sage Intacct, with experience across all modules, and with particular depth in multi-entity, multi-currency and multi-country implementations, including projects, construction, and full group consolidation architecture.
I have also led programmes on SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central, NetSuite, Sage 200, GenetiQ and Access Dimensions — so if your programme involves a different platform, it is worth a conversation.
Can you help with a programme that has already started or one that has stalled?
Yes — and it is work I take on deliberately. Around half of my engagements are recovery situations: programmes that have lost momentum, scope that has drifted, or a relationship with an implementation partner that has broken down.
Recovery requires a different set of skills to running a clean-start programme. At Salute Mission Critical, I was brought in to recover a stalled EMEA Sage Intacct implementation, delivering the full platform while maintaining existing transaction flows in parallel throughout. I join wherever your programme is and work from there.
What does fractional mean in practice?
It means I lead your programme for the days it genuinely needs, not a fixed five-day week. ERP programmes are naturally intensive in some phases — selection, design, go-live — and quieter in others. Fractional engagement scales with that rhythm, so you get senior leadership when you need it without paying full-time rates throughout.
How are engagements priced?
Engagements are priced on a daily rate, as a fixed fee against defined deliverables, or as a monthly retainer — depending on what suits the shape of your programme. We agree the right structure at the outset. The first conversation is always free.
Do you work across specific industry sectors?
No — the work translates across sectors. Recent programmes have spanned data centre services, professional services, software development, manufacturing, distribution, energy, defence, and education. What matters is the complexity of the programme and the outcomes the business needs, not the sector it operates in.
What does a typical engagement look like?
Every engagement is different, but most follow a recognisable shape: I start by understanding where your programme is and what the risks are, establish or reset the plan and governance, then manage delivery through to go-live and benefits realisation. Some clients bring me in at the very start; others once a system is already selected or a programme is underway.
Do you work alone or with a wider team?
I work as a sole practitioner — you get me, not a team of junior consultants. On any programme I bring together and coordinate your internal teams, the implementation partner, and any third-party technical resources. All projects are collaborative by nature; my role is to provide the senior, independent leadership that holds everything together. I have a large network of contacts and I can bring in tried and trusted developers if needed.
What areas do you cover?
I am based on Dartmoor in Devon and focus primarily on the South West of England. I deliver hybrid engagements or fully remote depending on what the programme needs. I travel to client sites across the UK and globally by arrangement.
